|Early Morning Walkers|
The 2012 Mayoral Cycling Challenge which took place on Sunday 15 April on the Okaihau to Kaikohe 13.5 km stage 1 of the Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail was a great success. While not as many attended the event as last year, those that did had a great time.
I hear that next year’s event will take more of a historic and family focus, with events for all the family including those not participating on the trail ride. Something to look forward to and something we will keep you posted on.
Subscribe to the Kaikohe news events and you will be kept informed on this and other exciting events.
Many people continue to use the trail on a regular basis. Every weekend there are riders and walkers.
I have also heard that some, keen on keeping fit, are using the trail during their lunch break for a safe and scenic place to jog.
The easy nature of the trail makes it ideal for a family ride or walk.
The Kaikohe Business Association and the Kaikohe-Hokianga Community Board encourage families and individuals to get out there and give it a go.
Please refer to the Cycle Trail Map for more detail on the route.
